Residential Housekeeper

Objective:
To provide the residents of the emergency shelter a safe and clean-living facility. Ensure facility is “tour” ready. This position reports to the Residential Services Coordinator.

Description:
Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing residential rooms upon discharge.
Make rooms ready for incoming families.
Clean, sanitize and organize shared residential areas: dining hall/vending area; computer lab, lounges, shared restrooms, and laundry rooms daily.
Assist kitchen staff with deep clean as necessary.
Assist in stocking and organization of shelter pantry; including purchasing of cleaning supplies.
Ensure employees and resident cleaning closets have the necessary supplies for ongoing cleaning.
Washing, drying, and folding agency laundry (bedding, rugs, curtains, etc.).
Clean internal windows and sills regularly.
Perform detailed deep cleans when required.
Empty and routinely clean internal trash containers.
Report and return any guest properties found in the rooms.
Report cases of property damage via workorder process or immediately for emergency repairs.
Reporting linen and other needs to supervisor.
Be kind and courteous to residents.

Supervision:
Under the direct supervision of the Residential Services Coordinator.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Physical stamina for prolonged periods of cleaning.  At least one year of experience housekeeping in residential setting (hotel, shelter, hospital, nursing home, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:              
Knowledge of appropriate and safe use of cleaning materials in residential centers with children and/or ill individuals.
Excellent working knowledge of cleaning appliances and their operations and proper use of cleaning agents.
Knowledge of cleaning and disposal procedures of hazardous waste or bodily fluids.
Attention to detail.
Possess good verbal and written communications skills.
Computer experience helpful, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Schedule:
Part-Time, Five Days per week
Additional hours as requested for special events.
