Van Zandt County
Van Zandt County Outreach was founded in 1991 to provide advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Program services include: Crisis Intervention, Safety Planning, Support Groups, Peer Counseling, Shelter, Economic Education Classes, Community Resources & Information, Legal Advocacy, Limited Financial Assistance, Transportation to Emergency Shelter and Medical Accompaniment.
The Van Zandt program is also looking for volunteers to join its advisory committee. Those interested should call 903-567-0959.
The Canton Main Street Program Teamed up with the East Texas Crisis Center brought awareness (and a fundraiser) to domestic abuse. A 5K glow in the dark with Zombies was launched as a fall season event. There were a costume contest for the best Zombie with prizes, an outdoor movie after the run, concessions but most of all FUN with friends!
