For the second consecutive year, the East Texas Crisis Center was awarded with grants from TransCanada for the Children’s Prevention & Education Program. In 2012, the Center received $3,000 and in this year, we are happy to be the recipient of their $2,500 grant.
The East Texas Crisis Center provides services to victims of family violence and sexual assault at no cost and we place special emphasis that Early Intervention is the key to breaking the cycle of violence; EDUCATION is the means to promote long lasting change. In 2012, 191 women and 186 children lived in our emergency shelter, of the 186 children 68 were school-age children & 33 were age 3-5 participated in the After School Tutoring, Summer Camp, Early Childhood Education, Positive Parenting Practices, and Support Groups.
“TransCanada is proud to be part of the energy and enthusiasm surrounding this community initiative”, said Mr. Tim Fehr.
The East Texas Crisis Center thanks TransCanada for supporting the Children’s Prevention & Education Program.
