The East Texas Crisis Center seeks applicants for the position of a Batterer Intervention & Prevention (BIPP) Lead Facilitator.
Objective:
To implement the Violence Intervention Network (VIN) program which is certified by the Criminal Justice Division of the State of Texas as a Batterer Intervention & Prevention Program and the agency’s Anger Management Program.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and conduct client screening and orientation to individuals referred to the program.
Research appropriate material and hand-outs for the VIN programs.
Approve materials and hand-outs used by the VIN group facilitators.
Maintain regular contact with criminal justice probation agencies or parole agencies in each county of services on progress (attendances, absences, graduation or dismissal) of each participant referred to the VIN program. Enhancing the referral system and networking to improve service delivery.
Meet face-to-face with probation departments in each county at a minimum of once each year.
Provide orientation and training for facilitators.
Provide guidance to facilitators and VIN receptionist.
Assist with facilitators completing required continuing education.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field OR previous volunteer or paid experience in a domestic violence program, human services agency, or professional work experience will be considered.
Supervision:
Position is supervised by the Sr. Director of Programs
Training Requirements:
Must complete 40 hours of orientation and initial training required by Criminal Justice Division for BIPP programs before working unsupervised with VIN program clients. Relevant previous training within the last three years may be substituted for a maximum of 20 hours.
Must receive a minimum of 20 hours of staff development annually.
Ongoing education of the nature and dynamics of domestic violence is a requirement of the position. Develop a working knowledge of the various types of abuse and how each type is utilized by those who victimize their partners, by reading relevant materials, watching videos, etc.
Must maintain a working knowledge of the recent changes in legislation, including information on state DV laws, protective orders, community law enforcement, and prosecution and court policies regarding family violence.
