OBJECTIVE:
To provide crisis intervention and advocacy services to victims of family violence, sexual assault, and other violent crime.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Provide crisis intervention, legal advocacy, criminal justice, medical, and social service advocacy, timely follow-up, and information/referral services.
Provide crisis intervention services for walk-in clients, as needed.
Assist legal advocate with necessary documentation for Family Protective Orders.
Assist clients with Victims of Crime application forms and Victim Impact Statements.
Provide client screening for shelter, H.E.A.R.T. support group, and vouchers for Center’s resale shop.
Facilitate evening support groups on a weekly basis.
Maintain regular contact with law enforcement/courts to provide and/or obtain updated information regarding FPO, Magistrate’s Order, and to gather statistics.
Complete necessary client documentation, maintain current progress notes, and document all required information.
Attend weekly administrative/client staff meetings.
Assist in supervision of volunteer staff, as requested.
Assist with on-call advocacy, as scheduled.
Assist with volunteer training, completion of monthly and quarterly reports, and grant writing, fundraising, special events, public education- as requested.
SUPERVISION:
The Victim Advocate is a full-time position and is supervised by the Director of Residential and Non-Residential Services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or another related field. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a must.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
The Victim Advocate will complete the next available New Employee Training.
